AI X-Risk

AI X-Risk means the potential existential risk caused by artificial intelligence. Most of the time, this existential risk is conflated with (or intentionally meant to be) the extinction risk caused by AI, but ‘existential’ can mean any significant transformative event that AI could bring about.

I don’t believe that AI will cause human extinction or even be the reason for a negative existential event. There simply isn’t enough evidence or robust logical arguments to support that position. AI has already done so much good in the world, that people needlessly crying over what amounts to pulp science-fiction is doing more harm than AI ever could. The worst-case scenario that I would deem plausible is that humanity causes its own existential event, merely using AI as a tool.
